Whether you’re a foodie, brunch enthusiast or simply love a hearty breakfast, Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort has a host of amazing spots you need to check out that are a bike ride, walk or golf cart ride away!
From savory and sweet treats to classic American breakfasts and more, here are 7 of the best breakfast places in the resort you ought to visit at least once, if not more!
Ruby Slipper
The Ruby Slipper recently opened in the Village of Baytowne Wharf. Those familiar with the resort, the Ruby Slipper took the place of Another Broker Egg’s location in the Village of Baytowne Wharf (Another Broken Egg still has their location in Grand Boulevard). With a menu that spans banana bread French toast, eggs benedict, and avocado toast, Ruby Slipper is famous for its signature breakfast dishes. Using locally sourced ingredients, their meal offerings come with a Southern twist that’s perfect for beachgoers: shrimp & grits, beignets, and more. Ruby Slipper is also well-known for their carefully crafted Bloody Marys and mimosas, perfect for brunching with friends or family. Whether you’re staying in the Village of Baytowne Wharf or looking to enjoy a quick bite while soaking up the sun at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, The Ruby Slipper is sure to satisfy your cravings!
The Ruby Slipper has become a local favorite for breakfast, brunch and lunch. From locals to tourists, everyone in the area knows that Ruby Slipper offers delicious food with a unique Southern twist. It’s not uncommon on a Sunday morning to see people waiting outside the restaurant for their turn to come in and sample the homemade biscuits, shrimp and grits, beignets, French toast, omelets and more. Oh, and don’t forget their classic breakfast specials like Eggs Benedict or Crab Cake Benny. If you’re in a hurry, head online and add yourself to the waitlist ahead of time!
Another Broken Egg
Another Broken Egg is one of the most popular breakfast spots in Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, and for good reason. This iconic restaurant has multiple locations in Destin – the one located near Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin. This restaurant always brings back sweet memories of when my sister and I would visit the beach with my grandparents growing up. My grandmother loved their mugs (available for purchase to take home!). We would always have breakfast here at least once during a beach trip! This was long before they opened the location in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin.
Their breakfast offerings range from sweet to savory and everything in between. I recommend their Mardi Gras omelet or the Hey Lucy omelet. But you can’t really go wrong with anything from their menu. They have a wide variety of options to choose from off their breakfast menu. So no matter what you’re in the mood for, they have something to satisfy your craving. If you are in the mood for a cocktail, they make a great Bloody Mary as well as some nice variations of a mimosa. My favorite mimosa is the Lemon Blueberry Mimosa.
Black Bear Bread Co.
Black Bear Bread Co. is one of the hidden gems in Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Located on the main street side corner of the Hyatt Place Sandestin in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin, this bakery-café offers some of the best pastries you can find in Florida. My personal favorite is the Morning Bun – it’s truly a treat! Besides the pastries, you can find coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and tartines. They also have a great lunch menu. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and the staff is very friendly. They have outdoor seating for when the weather’s nice. I highly recommend stopping in while visiting the area. You won’t be disappointed!
Maple Street Biscuit Company
Maple Street Biscuit Company is the perfect spot in the Market Shops (at the main entrance of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort) if you’re looking for Southern-style biscuits and comfort food with a modern twist. Their menu offers classic items like biscuits and gravy, all with their signature twist. My personal favorites are the Bluegrass Grits Bowl with one of their famous biscuits on the side or the Squawking Goat, battered chicken strips, toasted goat cheese, and pepper jelly on a biscuit. For those of you with a sweet tooth, the Iced Cinnamon Biscuit is a must-try. The staff is always helpful and friendly, and the line moves pretty quickly. It’s a great spot for family and friends, or even just a quick meal alone.
Parlor Doughnuts
If you’re a fan of doughnuts and coffee, head to Parlor Doughnuts in the Market Shops. With handmade doughnuts that come in various flavors and a variety of coffee options, you can’t go wrong for breakfast here. Try their Sandy Beach doughnut or stuffed Nutella doughnut for a treat you won’t forget! And don’t forget to pair your doughnuts with one of their delicious coffees! From latte’s, to cappuccinos and macchiatos, they have something for everyone. Full disclosure – I don’t drink coffee so I can’t offer a recommendation on that aspect but I’ve been told they have great coffee! Don’t let a long line fool you, it tends to move quickly. But they do sell out of certain flavors so it’s worth heading there early to pick up your favorites before they are gone.
Sunset Bay Cafe
If you want a scenic view with your breakfast, Sunset Bay Cafe offers both waterfront views and delicious food. Their extensive menu offers items such as classic omelets, breakfast burritos, and the fan favorite chicken and waffles with a kick! Additionally, their espresso bar provides a wide selection of specialty drinks for those who need an extra boost to start their day. If you’re looking for something a little more exciting, enjoy live music every Friday and Saturday night from 6-8pm. The cafe also offers outdoor seating perfect for enjoying the fresh air and taking in the beautiful views of the bay. Whether you’re stopping in for a bite or staying for the night, Sunset Bay Cafe is sure to make your visit memorable.
Marina Bar & Grill
Start your day off with a true beach vibe at Marina Bar & Grill, one of the hidden gems in Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Relax on the outdoor patio with views of the marina and enjoy some of the best breakfast cocktails around. I highly recommend their Breakfast Burrito, Bloody Marys, and Flag Ship French Toast. Don’t miss out on this local favorite!
