Nothing beats soaking up the sun on a gorgeous day in the garden (or at the beach!), but it’s important to protect your skin while doing so. Whether you’re a sun lover, a gardener, a beachgoer, or simply someone who enjoys spending time outdoors, finding a non-toxic sunscreen can be a daunting task (added bonus if it’s EWG Verified®).
I’ve tested my fair share of sunscreens living in Florida and have narrowed down my favorites. From body sunscreens to tinted face sunscreens, keep reading to discover my top picks.

Sunscreen For Your Body
We Are Feel Good Inc.
Discover the lightweight and water-resistant Coconut Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF50+ by We Are Feel Good Inc., an ideal sunscreen for the outdoorsy types. This sunscreen provides up to 4 hours of water resistant protection. Sweating in the Florida sun while gardening does count!
This sunscreen was created in Australia by a team of outdoor enthusiasts determined to find the perfect sunscreen for their adventurous lives. It uniquely offers broad-spectrum defense against UVA and UVB rays, ensuring your skin is shielded from the damaging effects of UV radiation. But it goes beyond just sun protection. With the added goodness of aloe vera and vitamin E, this sunscreen doubles as a skincare product, soothing, hydrating, and shielding your skin from environmental harm. Experience dual benefits of skincare while safeguarding your skin from sun-damage.
And let’s not forget – they have some amazing scents. I lean toward the Coconut but the Wild Rosella was pretty heavenly as well!
Solara Suncare Nutrient Boosted Clean Freak
This non-toxic and vegan sunscreen provides a broad-spectrum SPF of 30 while being water-resistant for up to 40 minutes. The nutrient-rich formula moisturizes and nourishes your skin providing defense from environmental stressors like the sun, blue light, and pollution. This sunscreen is a great option for active days, swimming, or sweating.
Clean Freak is my daily go-to sunscreen option. I make sure to reapply if I’ll be gardening as I tend to sweat in the Florida sun, regardless of the time of year! It’s a rich cream so allow a minute for it to soak in.
Solara Suncare Glow Getter
Another Solara Suncare product that I love is Glow Getter! If you’re looking for a sunscreen that gives you some extra glow, look no further. This formula is packed with ingredients like green coffee, sacred lotus, and shimmery mica to help smooth, brighten, and hydrate, while still providing a broad-spectrum SPF of 30. Plus, it’s reef-safe, so you don’t have to worry about harming the ocean.
I love this sunscreen option when I head to the beach or pool with the added shimmery glow.
Attitude Mineral Sunscreen Stick: Tropical
I wasn’t sure I’d like a sunscreen stick. But turns out, it’s perfect for on-the-go. Attitude Mineral Sunscreen Stick is easy to apply and compact enough to throw in your bag. It provides a broad-spectrum SPF of 30 and has a nice tropical scent. Attitude also has a fragrance-free sunscreen stick option, making it a great option for those with sensitive skin.
Babo Botanicals Sheer Mineral Sunscreen
This non-greasy sunscreen is perfect for those with extra sensitive skin. The plant-based formula is gentle on the skin, yet still provides a broad-spectrum SPF of 50+. Plus, it’s water-resistant for up to 80 minutes, making it perfect for those active days spent outside.
Sunscreen For Your Face
Solara Suncare Fortune Teller Brightening Sunscreen Serum
This 3-in-1 gel-to-milk lightweight serum is perfect for everyday use. It provides a broad-spectrum SPF of 30 and is packed with adaptogen + science-based ingredients while protecting against inflammatory environmental stressors like UV, blue light, and pollution that can cause premature skin aging.
I use this daily during my morning skincare routine before I apply my tinted sunscreen (in lieu of a traditional foundation). If you use foundation, you would use it prior to foundation. Yes, that does mean I use two sunscreens on my face daily! Be cautious if you are using chemical sunscreens though. I only use mineral-based options.
Side Note: I also make sure to use sunscreen on my ears. Since our ears stick out slightly, they are more prone to sun exposure compared to other body parts. It’s important to apply sunscreen thoroughly on the entire ear, including behind and up to the ear canal!
Solara Suncare Time Traveler
If you’re looking for a sunscreen that packs a punch in the anti-aging department, look no further. This non-toxic, vegan formula is loaded with antioxidants and peptides to help protect and repair your skin. Plus, it provides a broad-spectrum SPF of 30.
This is my go-to facial sunscreen when I plan to be sweating or swimming (especially when I’m working in the garden) as it’s water-resistant for up to 40 minutes.
Tinted Sunscreen Options For Your Face
I’ve switched from using a foundation and opted for a tinted sunscreen instead. I read tinted sunscreen is called a “multi-tasker” since it can replace sunscreen, primer, and foundation in your daily skincare routine. The soft glow my face gets with a tinted sunscreen is an added benefit.
I’ve tried a number of options that contain great coverage and are also lightweight. Below are my favorite EWG Verified® options.
True Botanicals Everyday Skin Tints, SPF 30
This tinted sunscreen not only provides a broad-spectrum SPF of 30, but it also helps even out your skin tone and provides a natural-looking glow. It’s perfect for those no-makeup days or as a base for your makeup.
Babo Botanicals Daily Sheer Fluid Tinted Mineral Sunscreen Lotion
This lightweight and hydrating formula is perfect for those with dry skin. It provides a broad-spectrum SPF of 50 and is available in three tinted shades to match a variety of skin tones. The link for this is also earlier in the post by the Babo Botanicals daily sunscreen.
Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is crucial, but it’s equally important to do so with non-toxic sunscreens. I hope my top picks for body and face sunscreens have helped you in your search for the perfect product. Remember to reapply regularly, wear protective clothing, and most importantly, enjoy the outdoors.
