We stayed here for a few nights during our 10 day journey in Scotland in April/May 2023. We wished we spent more time at the Old Manse of Blair and plan to do so on our next visit. With its regal exterior, impeccable services, and a host of indulgent amenities, it is the ideal tapestry upon which to weave your Scottish adventure. Let’s embark on a journey to discover the allure of this stately retreat.
A Confluence of Comfort and Class
The minute you step into the Old Manse of Blair, you’re transported to a bygone era where elegance and opulence were everyday realities. The décor, a delicate fusion of classic Georgian and Victorian style, exudes warmth and a sense of grandeur without feeling ostentatious. Our stay was nothing short of enchanting, our accommodations spacious and elegantly appointed.
Guests can choose from a variety of rooms, each unique in its own right. Each room is thoughtfully decorated, retaining the manor’s original charm while offering the modern comforts one expects from a luxury retreat. Fine linens and plush pillows contributed to restful nights, ensuring we were ready to explore the morrows.
My sister and I stayed in the Georgian Suite in the main manor which resonated with old-world charm, from the fireplace in the sitting room to the view of the sprawling lawns. My parents enjoyed staying in one of the Railway Cottage rooms while my Aunt and Uncle were in one of the Walled Garden Rooms. You really can’t go wrong no matter which room you select. Each has its own charm.
But it’s not just the interiors that speak of luxury; the boutique nature of the Manse affords an air of exclusivity that’s hard to come by. Tucked away among the hills, the estate offers quiet seclusion for guests. The evening fires in the grand sitting room felt like stepping back in time, bringing our group together with the warmth and glow of the old log fires. It was the perfect place to enjoy a few whiskeys from their extensive collection!
Stepping outside, the estate’s expansive grounds lead to scenic walks through the countryside. The magic of the Scottish Highlands lay literally at our doorstep, promising adventures and vistas that never grow old.
I would be remise if I didn’t mention the Highland cows on the estate! Seumas and Seoras really are the coolest Highland cows in town! They are so gentle – it was a grand time feeding and petting them. Only word of caution is…. watch your step. My sister managed to step in a cow pie!
